Questions and Answers

1. Where are you located?

We are located in Doolin, in County Clare, on the West coast of Ireland along the Wild Atlantic Way. Doolin is located in the Burren & Cliffs of Moher Geopark – more info on the Geopark here.

2. Is mountain biking experience necessary?

Yes, it is necessary to have some mountain biking experience – so long as you can ride a bike, are in decent physical shape and are up for a challenge – you will have no problems! We take our time throughout the tour to explore and have a chat and breathers, so no one feels left out and no one is left behind. Let us know before hand if you have any conditions that we should be aware of (asthma, allergies etc) and we can take easier routes if need be.

3. What are the group sizes?

We like to keep things small, as smaller groups means more interaction with each other (a great way to meet other travelers!) and we prefer to have less of an environmental impact on the region than other large operators.

4. How should I go about booking my tour?

To book a tour with us, all you have to do is book online or you can ring us at 085 119 5489,  or email us at burrenwaymountainbiketours@gmail.com, and we will respond to you as quickly as possible and make the appropriate arrangements. We will do our best, at this time, to answer any questions you may have.

5. At what time do the tours run?

Our usual start times are 10:00am or 3:00pm, but we can vary the tours depending on your schedule. We pride ourselves on tailor-making our tours!

6. How do I get to Doolin?

For bus timetables and directions via car, please see our Travel Tips section for times and maps. There are also plenty of sustainable transport options – for a comprehensive guide – check out www.burren.ie or download the App here.

7. What should I bring on the tour?

Since we provide you with all your necessary equipment (bike & helmet),  all you need to bring is a snack/lunch, water, small rucksack, waterproofs, comfortable clothes and good shoes, camera and a smile! Once you book your tour, we will send our a reminder of what to bring with you. Check out our What to Bring page for more info!

8. What will I see on my tour?

It’s more like, what won’t you see! The Burren is filled with flowers, birds, insects, wildlife as well as the limestone pavements, mountains, and valleys, it is like nothing you have seen!
“The Burren has been aptly described as one ‘vast memorial to bygone cultures’. For instance, some 75 wedge tombs of Neolithic origin have been found in the region, from an estimated national total of just over 500. Hundreds of ancient cooking sites or fulachta fiadh and ancient cist graves are found throughout the hills…some 500 ring forts are found in the Burren…”. BurrenBeoTrust
