Over the Hills Tour

Back by popular demand and available as an easy to difficult route!

Discover the Burren – Over the Hills & Far Away – style!

We will meet you on the day at Fanore Beach, where we will get you kitted out for the cycle with our Lapierre 759 single suspension mountain bikes, as well as your helmet and guide. From here we head up and into the surrounding Burren limestone area, where we take in the spectacular views of the Cliffs of Moher, Aran Islands and north to the Connemara.

This cycle takes in an array of interesting sites and locations including; the Faunarooska Castle, an ancient round tower dating back to 1641, which unfortunately has collapsed over time, the Caher Valley which houses a vast number of ancient sites that we will get to see along the way, these include; a fulacht fiadh or cooking place just down past the bridge to the south of the road; the crude, penal chapel of Fermoyle which lies on the northern side, further on and 100 yards uphill – within it are a bullaun stone and an altar slab; and the famine village of Caherbannagh where only the foundations and hearths are visible. Ring forts are found throughout the Valley as well.

We also take in the Coast Road, before heading back up into the hills and onto the Black Head Loop, before finally finishing back at the beach in Fanore.
